So Anne Hathaway’s husband is William Shakespeare? OK. Lol. I guess that’s a big upgrade from the last one that didn’t end up so well for Anne. I remember when Hathaway was dating that Italian scam artist dude who got sent away on some hardcore embezzlement charges. Yikes. Not sure how he she then ended up with Sir Shakespeare here. The resemblance paired with the Anne Hathaway name connection is fairly alarming on the surface. There are no such thing as coincidences.
Anne Hathaway’s Con-Artist Ex Is Out of Jail and Back in the Headlines
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Anne Hathaway’s Italian ex of long ago, Raffaello Follieri. This might be because Follieri went to prison in 2008 for four and a half years after he pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to 14 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, and money-laundering charges. The Oscar winner broke up with Follieri just before he went to prison.
In 2012, Follieri was released from a federal prison in Pennsylvania and deported back to Italy, and his name was nowhere to be found in headlines since. Until now.Per Page Six, Follieri has been telling the Italian press that he is attempting to buy 50 percent in the Foggia Calcio soccer club in Southern Italy. He says he is being helped by his former investors, including Ron Burkle, part owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team.Burkle’s lawyer told Page Six differently: “Follieri is just making this stuff up. There is absolutely zero chance that Ron would invest with Follieri, directly or indirectly.”
Vanity Fair has reached out to Burkle’s investment firm, The Yucaipa Companies, via e-mail, and the Pittsbugh Penguins, via voicemail, for comment from Burkle.Follieri continues to insist that Burkle is on his team: “So my interviews in the Italian press were accurate and precise,” he told Page Six. “It is a shame that after I paid my debt to society, some people still have the need to put me down and don’t give a person a second chance.”
Follieri is still reportedly working with his publicist from 2008, Melanie Bonvicino, whom Vanity Fair reported had been by his side right up until his sentencing in federal court. Before he went to federal prison, Follieri was living in Trump Tower with his parents.
